The One Thing Standing in the Way of Your Social Media Success

Have you been running in circles trying to make your social media successful? Do you find yourself posting everywhere but never seeing any results? Are you confused as to why nothing seems to work? In this blog I’m going to share with you the one thing standing in the way of your social media success.

It might come as a surprise to you…

It’s YOU.

That’s right! You are standing in the way of your social media success!

“But how?” you might ask.

The reason that I say this is because social media…for most small businesses and online entrepreneurs…requires a special, personal touch that big businesses and brands don’t need. People want to see the face behind the business.

They want to get to know YOU.

And if you are only posting about your store hours or sharing funny memes…they aren’t seeing you. And if they aren’t seeing you, they won’t be drawn to you.

They are seeing just another business in a sea of businesses.

How do you change this?

First, start showing up on your social media.

This means:

  • Share selfies
  • Go live
  • Share fun snippets from your day (in text or video format)

Respond to comments and engage with others! Don’t wait for people to come to you to engage…go to them! Show up and build relationships with them.

Secondly, be personable!

Yes, some businesses need a professional feel and way of speaking, but for most small businesses it is okay to be yourself! Whether that’s being feisty, goofy, or spouting out puns…people like to see the “real” you.

Talk to your audience as if you are talking to your friend. Don’t try and be someone else.

And lastly, be sure that your branding matches who you are!

This one may not seem as important, but if your brand doesn’t match your personality then it’s going to be obvious to your audience and there will always be a disconnect.

For example, if you are a fun and vibrant person, then you want to make sure that your branding colors and fonts have that same fun and vibrant feel to them!

On the Table…

So many people make social media out to be harder than it is. Yes, there are things that you need to know that pertains to marketing on each platform. However, if you are showing up for your audience in honesty and as yourself, then you are sure to create a successful social media!
