Personalizing Your Online Business

As the world moves more and more online with business on websites and friends meeting on Facebook, it is increasingly important to remember the human element behind the screens. Social media can connect us, yet technology can separate us as well. With some intentional focus, personalizing your business online will utilize digital media to the best of its ability, connecting in ways not previously possible. With a little extra thought, you can personalize your online business.

Business Online

Most businesses are online or want to be these days. Whether it is a shop on a website or lead generation from social media, people are familiar with conducting business online. When is the last time you bought something online? You probably didn’t even think about it, this is just the way we shop.

Many business owners know this and are getting online quickly.

But- the most important thing to remember is the human element. People buy things based on their needs, wants, and interests (not the business owners). How is your business solving a problem for someone? Are you sharing this personalized element in your online business?

Social Media and Business

The increase in usage of social media sites for business is visible. We use social media to connect with friends and family, as well as learning about new business and connecting with brands. How are your customers connecting with your brand?

Social media has created an opportunity for businesses to connect with their consumers. People can ask questions at any time, and connect with a brand in a way that is just as rich as any human interaction. Are you following up on your customer’s questions with an automated like, or starting the conversation with them? Are you personalizing your online business?

It’s All People

Think about walking into a shop to purchase a new power cord for your computer. When you go into the store and someone imediatly greats you and helps you find what you’re looking for, doesn’t that feel great? But how often does it happen that you spend tones of time looking for something, only seeing customer service (maybe) when you figure out where to go to buy something. Do your clients feel this way when interacting with your brand online?

Remember, the data is numbers is people.

On the table…

While technology has changed the way we do business an interact, when done intentionally, it can improve the human experience. Remember, business is made up of people providing for other people. With a few simple steps, you can personalize your online business.
