Creating consistent content for your online and social media marketing can be really time consuming. But, with these simple tips we’ll show you how to save hours of time with content batching!

Batching content is something that is actually really simple, but when we feel stuck and overwhelmed, we tend to make it overly complicated. Before we start with content batching, we need to find out what kind of content you need to have in place before you can start batching it.

Core Content

The first thing that you want to do is to sit down and figure out the 3-5 things that your business is known for (or you want it to be known for). These are going to be your core pieces of content that all other content will fall under.

Your core content can be about who you serve, how you serve, and what makes you unique and different from your competition.

For example, here at Pancake Digital Solutions, we don’t just take over your social media marketing and do it for you (that is one service we offer), but we also offer training services to help you to understand and implement social media strategies. This is something unique and different about us.

Breakdown Your Core Content

The next step you should do is to take each piece of core content and then break it down into “bite-size” topics. These are short topics that you can spend 5-10 mins doing a Facebook live on or writing a 3-4 paragraph social media post around.

You will want to try and have at least 5-10 of these smaller pieces of content for each core content piece.

Tip: Use an online organizational tool such as Trello to create a visual list of these core content topics and subtopics to help keep you focused and organized!

Putting it All Together

Now that you know the “what” of creating your core content & smaller content pieces, we will delve into the “how” of implementing this and putting it into action!

There are several different types of content.

  • Blogs
  • Podcasts
  • Video
    • Live
    • Recorded
    • Short-form video (under 10 mins)
    • Long-form video (typically a training lasting 20 mins or longer)
  • Text posts
    • Long-Form posts
    • Short-From posts
    • Text posts with images

When you realize how many types of content there are, it can be a little overwhelming. You probably wonder how you are going to create enough content without losing your mind. Don’t worry, this is where content batching comes in!

Content Batching

In order to batch your content, you want to start with your core content. Core content is best used in videos, blog posts, or podcast episodes. These are usually “meatier” and longer form pieces.

Let’s take a blog post for example, once you have your blog written and posted, you can then take 1-2 sentences from the blog and create a couple of social media posts.

You can also create a video or podcast talking about the same topic that you used in the blog post, but go in more depth and detail with it.

Once you have your video or podcast, you can take sound clips or a short video clip and post those across social media platforms. You can cross-post the video clips (or full video) to IGTV, Facebook, YouTube, etc.

As you can see, from one blog post, you have the potential to create 1-2 weeks’ worth of content (depending on the topic).

And then you just rinse and repeat!

On the Table…

When it comes to content creation, we tend to get overwhelmed thinking that we have to reinvent the wheel. However, content batching makes it so simple to create consistent content without losing your mind and helping you to save hours of time in the process!
