Why Your Handmade Business Needs to be on Social Media (Not Just Etsy)

If you have a handmade business then there is a good chance that you have setup an Etsy store for your products. Maybe you have even thought about bringing your handmade business to social media, but aren’t even sure if your business needs to be there. (hint: it DOES!)
In this post we’re going to show you just why your business needs to be on social media (not just Etsy).
Showcase Your Products in a New Way
The first reason to be on social media is to give you another outlet to showcase your products. There are only so many ways that you can share your products on Etsy. But with utilizing social media, you will be able to offer a “behind the scenes” glimpse into your products and how they can be used.
Using Facebook or Instagram lives, IGTV, and/or Pinterest videos to show how your products are used will entice your audience even more than just pictures of them.
Bring Personality to Your Business & Products
Tying into the first point, not only will you be able to showcase your products using social media, but you will also be able to show more about your life, your personality, and your heart for your business.
People are more likely to buy from you when they know, like, and trust you. This can be difficult to portray on Etsy alone, but utilizing social media along with it will give your audience a way to build trust with you.
Create a Community of Raving Fans
By using social media for your handmade business you will be able to tap into a whole new audience who may not be on Etsy at all. This allows you to create a community of raving, loyal fans that will buy from you.
One of the best ways to create an intimate community is through Facebook groups. You can use a “VIP” Facebook group to offer sneak peaks to new products, create polls for requested products, presale products, and special offers and discounts!
On the Table…
The days of marketing your products on only Etsy have gone. In order to build trust, reach new people, build a community, and personalize your business you need to be marketing on at least one social media platform. If you haven’t branched out into marketing your Etsy shop on social media, today is a great day to start!
