Holly jolly carols, bells and eggnog, lights and magical sleigh rides; you know what that means! ‘Tis the season! The season for gifts and gifts and gifts. Do you have a plan for Facebook Marketing The Holidays? Having the right social strategy can make a big difference for your business, especially this time of year.

Why Holiday Marketing is Tough

Many businesses get a large number of their sales this time of year. There are many numbers out there for the statistics of how many and how much, but that wouldn’t even begin to account for the numbers of small artisans and small shops out there relying on holiday sales.

How to Do it Anyways

So how do you go about this Facebook marketing the holidays? To begin, keep in mind the competition will be significant. You need your content to stand out. The easiest way to do this? Create interesting and engaging posts about your target market. For example, if you sell Christmas ornaments, you should post a picture of a fake tree and one of a real tree and ask which your audience prefers. Later, post a picture of two different versions of your ornaments and ask them which one they prefer. Strong Organic Engagement is key. This is the time everyone and their neighbor is throwing $20 or more behind a post asking people to buy their product.

Ads will be more expensive, but this is not a reason to shy away from them. You simply need to advertise the right posts. Think about how much holiday marketing you see on a daily basis right now. Take time this week to notice what you see, and more importantly what you would usually ignore. How many posts out there just tell you to buy something? Are you going to go comment on it or just go buy it because you saw it on a billboard? Probably not. Find people’s needs and tell them how your products help those needs.

Think about how many companies have made extra cash offering to wrap your presents for you right at check out, gift receipts included! Don’t you wish you thought of that first?

You need to Stand out

What can you do that is different, how do you stand out? Does your target market have young kids and need safe holiday decorations but they are too busy to do the research? Make a video that quickly spells out the 1 2 3 of why your decorations are safe for kids. Don’t know where to start? Find examples of what you like and make it in your own words with your own images.

Give people what they want to see. Start with your audience, start with what they need. Yes, this is true all the time, but especially this time of year.
