The New Year is just around the corner and as business owners and entrepreneurs we are already asking ourselves, “What marketing trends will we see in 2020?” So we thought it would be helpful if we compiled a list for you of the 8 marketing trends to pay attention to in 2020.
Personalization
Social media has connected us in so many ways. However, people are getting tired and bored of businesses pitching to them through Facebook ads that just aren’t relevant to their lives.
Some ways that businesses can start implementing personalization in their social media is through messenger bots or chatbots.
When done correctly, chatbots can feel really personal and connect you with your target audience on a whole new level. And with Facebook’s push to make everything more “private” for the user, chatbots are the perfect way to add that touch of personalization to a private conversation.
Interactive
We live in a generation that loves to feel connected to everyone. At what other time in history could you have instant access to your favorite brands, actors, businesses, etc?
We love interacting with those we admire and businesses and brands need to be tapping into this.
Some thoughts for interactive content include:
- Quizzes
- Polls
- Stories
- Lives
Voice Search
Who doesn’t love voice search!? Am I right?
If you have an Amazon Echo or Google Home, you can ask a question and have the answer within minutes (maybe even seconds) without stopping what you’re doing to type it out.
This is a great opportunity for businesses to make sure that their products and services are easily searchable.
Artificial Intelligence
AI has already been sneaking into the marketing world and it is not going anywhere.
Utilizing AI allows us an inside peak into our customers mind…
According to this article from Single Grain: “AI can analyze consumer behavior and search patterns, and use data from social media platforms and blog posts to help businesses understand how customers find their products and services.”
Shoppable Links
With Instagram and Pinterest adding shoppable links, then it only makes sense that the use of shoppable links is on the rise.
Now you can plan out your outfit on Pinterest and order it all in one quick and easy search.
Transparency
More than ever people are looking for authenticity and transparency with the brands they buy from and the influencers that they follow. This can seem difficult to do as a business, but being transparent is becoming essential for brands and businesses to stay relevant to their audiences.
Being transparent doesn’t mean you tell every behind-the-scenes strategy of your company. It just means being up front and honest.
Made a mistake? Own up to it. Bring it up and address it before it becomes an issue.
Augmented & Virtual Reality
The future has arrived!
AR and VR are becoming increasingly popular and businesses are starting to tap into it. For example, Revlon has an app where you can upload your picture and test out their various hair colors before making a decision.
This brings in a whole new level to the customer journey.
Content Marketing
We know that “content is king” and that is not going to be changing.
However, the types of content that audiences are engaging with are definitely evolving.
Audiences want more:
- High-Quality Content
- Interactive Content (as mentioned above)
- Personalized Content
- Live videos
