Facebook is a great place to be for most businesses, many of which are incredibly successful with Facebook Ads as well. However, organic Facebook marketing can sometimes be forgotten about. While the results may not be as direct, a good strategy for your organic Facebook marketing efforts can be a big difference long term for your business.
Here are some Organic Facebook Marketing Tips-
Consistency
One of the most important things you can do for your business is to be consistent. This is true with your marketing as well, especially on Facebook. A frequent question that comes up at this point is how often should someone post to their business page. The best answer here is whatever you can be consistent with. If you want to have live videos that have a lot of views, go live often at regular times.
This consistency with your organic Facebook marketing sets expectations for your audience. When they see you at regular intervals in their timeline, they start to remember you. This is true not only for timing but for branding and messaging. Use similar colors and formats so that when someone sees your content, they know it is from you without having to look at the name. In your messaging, stay consistent with your tone and content. For example, a dog food brand may have a fun, light-hearted voice with puns and bring colors. In contract, a lawyer would likely have a more serious tone with simple colors and designs.
Choose the options for what is right for your business.
Authenticity
How do you know what your colors and your voice and content should be for your business? Be authentic. Often times people worry about sounding too salesy or trying to make everything perfect and polished content. Both of these can lead to post never getting done, which is poor strategy.
Share from a place of authenticity and your business won’t come across as being “icky salsey” but the sheer fact you are focusing on what your product or service can do to help people and why you love it. Being authentic doesn’t have to mean being perfectly polished. If you work in a creative home studio – show off your hard work. Nothing gets made when your tools are on the shelf.
When it comes to your organic Facebook marketing for your business- Just do it, and improve it as you go!
80 – 20 Rule
This is a common rule of thumb in marketing that comes in many variations. The basic concept of this rule is that 80% of your content is information and fun to the audience, while 20% is promotional. For Facebook, these numbers are often closer to 90 – 10. The key is finding a balance between providing value and interesting content while also making your products or services available for purchase. No one wants to go into a store where it is a constant sales pitch (car dealerships) but it is equally frustrating when you want to buy something and can’t find a checkout anywhere (department stores).
How can you add this to your organic Facebook marketing strategy? Write out your content 10 posts at a time. Mark two as a product features with links to purchase, then fill the others with relevant content to your industry, behind the scenes photos, and helpful articles.
On The Table…
We so often hear of the success of Facebook Advertising, it can be easy to forget the significance of a good organic Facebook marketing strategy. When you apply these three tips to be consistent, authentic, and balance your content types, your business will do better than ever on Facebook. Combining this organic strategy plus a good Facebook ads strategy can get you the best of both!
