What Is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a Social Media primarily comprised of images and links.
“Pinterest is where people discover new ideas and find inspiration to do the things they love!”
This social media site is designed to help users look through and collect images based on a theme to get ideas and inspirations for projects. Think of people who make a scrapbook of wedding planning information. They may have a couple pages for flower ideas, a section for hair and another for bridesmaids gifts. This is what Pinterest is, but for everything and everyone, and online. People can also make collaborative boards and share their business ideas with the world.
What is SEO?
SEO is a fancy buzz word people use a lot, especially when talking about websites. It is short for Search Engine Optimization, which is exactly what it sounds like. You are optimizing your content to appear on search engine results for specific search terms.
Why is SEO on Pinterest Important?
SEO on Pinterest is important because Pinterest is a search engine. The user enters a few keywords and/or sets search parameters then browses through the results. If you sell Pancakes Recipes, and someone is searching for breakfast ideas, you want your stuff to show up on their computer.
How do I “do” SEO on Pinterest?
If you already have a Pinterest page, especially a Business Pinterest, you know that in the process of adding a pin includes adding some keywords. Include boards and keywords that people will be searching for. For example, when selling Pancake Recipes, include these words in your pins. Also include similar terms people may search for, such as breakfast ideas, recipes for pancakes, blueberries, etc.
On the Table…
SEO on Pinterest can be summed up to being about common sense. People will search for something, you want your something to show up to the right people.
