Businesses often go through change. When you are a business owner, your life changes & transitions often affect your business. For us, this has been a great thing. We have some great big news…I live in Hawaii and therefor Pancake Digital Solutions in Now in Hawaii!
We’ll cut straight to the big news- Pancake Digital Solutions is Now in Hawaii!
Yup, Pancake Digital Solutions is Now in Hawaii. Kailua, Honolulu County to be exact. That is on the windward side of the Island of Oahu. A personal move has brought us here, so we have embraced it for the business as well. This past week we received official confirmation from the Business Registration Division of the State of Hawai’i:
“Your business registration of PANCAKE DIGITAL SOLUTIONS with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs has been approved and finalized”
Pretty exciting! For those of you who are interesting in the process of moving to Hawaii, the story is below…
Story on Moving To Hawaii
Rianna here, excited to share the story of what it took for me to move my family and my business to Hawaii. We first got the news of the move to Hawaii last year, 2017, in New York while we were out cutting down a Christmas tree. (My fiance is in the Navy). It was made official sometime around New Years while I was in Montana. The first thoughts were crazy, Hawaii is so far away! How are we going to get everything there…the dogs…the cars…the business? Which island is Pearl Harbor even on? Wait…we are going to live in Pearl Harbor?
First things first- the dogs. Hawaii is a rabies-free state, pretty cool! But with the Islands being, well, islands, there are some very specific rules on getting dogs moved here. A rabies-titer test must be conducted and delivered to the Department of Agriculture 120 days before the dog (or cat) can be on the island. If you don’t make the cutoff, which is what happened to us, the dogs will remain in Quarantine until the 120 days are up.
There is a ton of information about this on the Department of Agriculture website & through Hawaiin Airlines. Flying them to Hawaii required health certificates, specialized crates, and a fee. But once we dropped the dogs off at the airport, everything was taken care of for us!
The Cars… The Navy shipped his car and our stuff, but this took some coordination. My car, I shipped from Los Angels, so we made the big drive from Connecticut to LA with the dogs and suitcases in tow. The car is dropped off, inspected and shipped. It must be empty and have less than 1/4 quarter tank of gas. One it was here, I was able to pick it up and register it relatively quickly. Hawaii does have inspection laws, so the car must pass an inspection before you can get your plate. It is a relatively easy process, just another step.
The Business… Once we found a place to live, I found an office space to use. It is currently being remodeled, but with the address, I was able to apply to be a foreign business operating here in Hawaii. The business was formed in Wyoming, but since we will be living here for a while it was important to do the proper paperwork- which has now been approved!
On the Table…
Moving to Hawaii seems crazy, but once the logistics are sorted out, it is a lot of fun! We are excited to share this news with you that Pancake Digital Solutions is Now in Hawaii!
