3 Simple Ways for You to Network
By Latisha S. | latisha@pancakedigitalsolutions.com
Networking is a great way for people to discover you and your business! However, sometimes networking can seem intimidating and overwhelming. Especially for those who haven’t had a lot of practice with it. That’s why we are going to share 3 simple ways for you to network.
But first, let’s be clear about what networking is and isn’t.
Networking isn’t an easy way to sell a new product or land a new client. Don’t get me wrong, that can happen and it’s great when it does! But, we lose a lot of our authenticity and genuineness when we have “the sale” on our minds instead of the most important thing….building RELATIONSHIPS!
Networking is all about building and nurturing relationships, having genuine and real conversations with people and getting to know them.
Yes, it may not end in a sale right away…but by focusing on the relationship building instead of the sale, you will set yourself up for long-term success.
Local Networking Events
If you live in the right area, you can typically find several different types of networking events. Usually these events are free and are a great way to get to know the local business owners.
Check your Chamber of Commerce for events.
Host Your Own Networking Event or Training
If you are like me and live in a very small town with very little options for networking events, you can host your own!
A great way to do this is to host a free training event where you will speak on something relevant to your business. For me, I spoke on how to use social media for business.
However, you can also speak or teach on other topics such as, business mindset, how to start a business, etc.
Online Networking
Thanks to the power of the internet, one of the easiest ways for you to begin networking is to go online and find out where your target market is hanging out.
Are they on Facebook? Then join a few relevant Facebook groups and start networking, interacting and just genuinely engaging with people.
Maybe they are on Instagram, LinkedIn, or another social media platform.
Go there! Find them where they are and start building a rapport with them. AKA build and nurture a relationship with them!
On the Table…
Networking is a MUST for any business, especially when you are just starting out. Whether you choose to attend live networking events, host one yourself, or network online, as long as you keep building genuine relationships with people then you will set yourself up for long-term success.
